Request crawl space help
If water is pouring into the crawl space or a floor feels unsafe, call. For musty smells, vapor barriers and dehumidifiers, send a request and a local company will call you back.
Before you call
It helps to have:
- Your address and town, so a company that serves that part of Pitt County gets your request
- What you're noticing: smell, damp insulation, standing water, a torn vapor barrier or sagging floors
- Whether the crawl space is vented or already sealed, if you know
- Whether the house has flooded before, including during Hurricane Floyd or a later storm
- If you're buying or selling, your due diligence deadline
Water under the house after a storm? Don't go into a flooded crawl space while the power to equipment down there is on, and stay out if you see sagging framing or downed wires.
